Description
Black-browed albatrosses (Diomedea melanophris) floating on water. These seabirds are among the smallest of the albatrosses, having a wingspan of around 2 metres. They spend much of their time gliding over the oceans of the sub-Antarctic in search of krill (tiny shrimp), squid and small fish. These albatrosses mate for life. Each breeding pair produces a single chick in a cliff- top nesting colony, on islands in the south Atlantic Ocean. Photographed off the island of South Georgia.
