Bengal monitor lizard (Varanus bengalensis) on a termite mound. The Bengal monitor is found across the Indian Subcontinent, as well as parts of Southeast Asia and West Asia. It hunts on the ground, preying mainly on insects, but also eating small vertebrates, ground birds, eggs and fish. Photographed in India.
