Description
Barn swallow (Hirundo rustica) perched on a wire. Swallows are seasonal visitors to the northern hemisphere, migrating long distances south in the winter. They breed in North America and Eurasia, building a mud bowl nest on the wall or roof of a building or inside caves. Swallows inhabit open country near water and are strong and accomplished fliers, spending much of their time airborne, feeding on flying insects. Photographed in Hungary in spring.
