Bacterial ATP synthase (ATPase) stalk structure. Computer model showing the structure of the b subunit dimerization domain, the stalk or stator. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), nitrogen (blue) and oxygen (red). ATPase is an important enzyme that provides energy for cells through the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) from adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and inorganic phosphate.
