Description
Avenue of the Dead, Mexico, fish-eye lens view. This view, from the top of the Pyramid of the Moon, looks out over the city built by the Teotihuacan culture. This Mesoamerican culture reached its peak in the first half of the first millennium AD. The Pyramid of the Moon is 43 metres high. In the far distance, at left, is the larger Pyramid of the Sun. The pyramids and avenue are thought to have been used for religious ceremonies. The population of this city peaked at over 100,000 in around 600 AD, making it one of the largest cities in the world at the time.
