Description
Atoms for Peace roadshow. Members of the public in 1957 visiting an Atoms For Peace travelling roadshow exhibit in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA. Following a speech by US President Dwight D. Eisenhower on 8 December 1953 to the United Nations General Assembly, the USA launched an 'Atoms for Peace' programme to distribute nuclear applications around the world. This program educated the public and supplied equipment and information to schools, hospitals and research institutions. The roadshows were presented by the United States Atomic Energy Commission.
