Description
Assorted garden bulbs. Red and white onions (centre left), garlic (lower right) and daffodil bulbs (upper centre) with other flower bulbs. Bulbs are the underground food storage structures of some plants. Onion and daffodil plants have true bulbs, tightly bound leaf scales that develop roots and a shoot. Corms (black, on ceramic plate) are the swollen base of a stem. Tuberous structures are seen at right of the corms.
