Arm muscles. Artwork of some of the dorsal muscles of the forearm. The muscles (red) are attached to the bones of the arm, wrist and fingers by tendons (off-white). When the dorsal muscles contract, the hand and fingers are extended. As these muscles are used for moving bones and are under conscious control, they are known as skeletal or voluntary muscles.
