Apples (Malus domestica), historical artwork. These are 'Rambour Franc' apples, a cultivar of the domesticated apple. This red apple cultivar was first described in France in 1535. A developing apple is at upper right, with a ripe apple at lower left. Two flowers from this tree are at lower right. Artwork from a book published in 1768.
