Apollo 16 photograph of Commander John W. Young collecting samples at a North Ray crater geological site. The Apollo 16 mission was launched on 16 Apr, 1972. Young is carrying a rake in his hand & the gnomon is near his foot. The latter is a device for measuring the altitude of the sun. There is a large rock in the foreground of the picture.
