Description
Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin Buzz" Aldrin photographed near the lunar module (right). Aldrin has just deployed a package of scientific equipment known as the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package (EASEP). In the foreground is the Passive Seismic Experiment Package and behind this the Laser Ranging Retro-reflector. In the background, to the left of the US flag, is the black and white lunar surface camera. The photograph was taken by Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong. Apollo 11 was the first manned lunar landing mission. The lunar module touched down on the Moon on 20 July 1969, four days after launch."
