Description
Antarctic skua (Catharacta antarctica) scavenging on a dead seal. It has used its beak to peck out the eyes and feast on the internal tissues. As well as scavenging, this large predatory seabird feeds on fish and bird eggs, as well as hunting smaller seabirds, including penguins, and their chicks. It is found in the sub-Antarctic regions around Antarctica. Photographed on South Georgia.
