Animal cell components and organelles, illustration. The cell is enclosed in a plasma membrane (blue). The central nucleus (blue) includes the nucleolus (dark blue), the nuclear envelope and nuclear pores (holes). The rough endoplasmic reticulum (pink) has ribosomes (yellow dots). Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (pink filaments) is at upper right. The Golgi apparatus (pink, folded) is at lower right. Also shown are mitochondria (orange, elongated), microtubules (green strands), microfilaments (purple strands), centrioles (yellow cylinders), lysosomes (yellow globules) and peroxisomes (orange, spherical).
