Description
Ancient Persian carvings. Persian figures carved into stone, which was found in the ruined city of Persepolis, situated in modern day Iran. The figures may be going into battle as they have spears, shields and quivers full of arrows. The city was built by Darius I, who reigned from 522- 486 BC, as a ceremonial capital. It was destroyed by Alexander the Great in 330 BC.
