Description

Anchiornis feathered dinosaur, artwork. The type specimen of this genus, Anchiornis huxleyi, was identified in 2009, based on fossils found in China dating from the Jurassic around 160 million years ago. The colours of this non-avian feathered dinosaur have been determined by comparing its fossils with the anatomy of modern birds. It was a small dinosaur, only 34 centimetres in height, and weighing around 110 grams.
