Russian Graspedites subolitus jurassic ammonite showing the distinctive pattern of ammonitic fossilised chamber sutures. The pattern of sutures tended to get more complex over the ammonites evolutionary history, which is an aid to dating rocks. The functions of the complex sutures have been hard to identify however.
