Description
Andean Condor Conservation Project. Researchers reading an RFID tracking chip that has been implanted in the wing of an Adult Andean condor (Vultur gryphus) as part of the Andean Condor Conservation Project. The project, founded in 1991, aims to reintroduce Andean condors to the wild through captive breeding programs and nursing injured birds back to health. Each bird that is released is fitted with a tracking chip to give researchers a better idea of how these animals live. Photographed at the Buenos Aires Zoo, Argentina.
