Description
Hurricane damage. Trees felled by Hurricane Ivan blocking a motorway rest area in Alabama, USA. Ivan hit land near Gulf Shores, Alabama in the early hours of 16 September 2004. At the time it hit, it was classified as a category 4 hurricane, with winds of 210 kilometres per hour. The winds killed 25 people, destroyed buildings, brought down power lines and spawned tornadoes. Ivan continued inland, weakening to a tropical depression in north-east Alabama.
