Description
Namaqua chameleon (Chamaeleo namaquensis) hunting prey with its unfurled tongue. This tongue extends out extremely rapidly in just a few fractions of a second. Here, it is about to catch an Onymacris plana beetle. This chameleon is found in the Namib Desert of Namibia and Angola, where it feeds on insects, small lizards and snakes. Photographed in Namibia, Southern Africa.
