Description
Water pump windmill, Nebraska Sandhills. This distinctive windmill design is used to power a water pump to raise water from underground. In widespread use across arid areas of the western and mid-western USA, is is manufactured by the Aermotor Windmill Company. This one is in the Nebraska Sandhills, a prairie region that is located above the underground Ogallala Aquifer. This aquifer supplies large amounts of drinking water and water used for irrigation. Photographed in July 2014, near Seneca, Nebraska, USA.
