Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. People on a boat tour through the Suwannee Canal area of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, Folkston, Georgia, USA. This wildlife reserve was established in 1937 and covers an area of 1,772 square kilometres. The Suwannee Canal was dug across the swamp in the 19th century in an unsuccessful attempt to drain the Okefenokee.
