MODEL RELEASED. CT scanning. Patient drinking a contrast medium in preparation for a CT scan. Computed tomography (CT) uses X-rays to produce cross-sectional images of the scanned area. The patient is passed through the scanner while a computer compiles the data into multiple image slices. The contrast medium will highlight the digestive system, revealing any abnormalities.
