Cave of the hands. Cave paintings in the Cueva de las Manos (Cave of the Hands) in Santa Cruz, Patagonia, Argentina. The stencilled hands have been painted over each other over thousands of years. The hands with the palest pigments and the paintings of guanacos, a type of lama, date to 11,000 years ago. The hands with the brighter pigments date to 7000 years ago.
