Description
False-colour electron diffraction pattern of a particle of Ti2Ni in a binary alloy of 90% titanium and 10% nickel. This alloy forms the basis of a family of other alloys, which may contain between 3 and 6 other alloying elements in small amounts. Such alloys have a diversity of use depending on the other alloying elements. Some are used in the aerospace industry, others in medical prostheses and in salt-water resistant components. The electron beam here was aligned with the [111] crystal axis of the Ti2Ni particle.
