Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) Falcon 9 rocket lifting off from Space Launch Complex 40, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, USA, at 1010am local time (EST) on 1 March 2013. This mission is the second of 12 SpaceX flights contracted by NASA to resupply the ISS. It originated from NASA's COTS (Commercial Orbital Transportation Services) initiative, set up to encourage private companies to ship cargo to the ISS after the retirement of the shuttle program in 2011.
