Serbia is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe, covering the southern part of the Carpathian basin and the central part of the Balkans. It borders Montenegro (lower left), Bosnia and Herzegovina (centre left), Croatia (upper left), Hungary (top left), Romania (upper right), Bulgaria (lower right), Macedonia (bottom right), and Kosovo (lower centre). Albania (bottom left) and the Adriatic Sea (blue, bottom left) can also be seen. Image compiled from data acquired by the LANDSAT 5 and 7 satellites, in 2000.
