Description
Plastinated body exhibit, cycling pose. The technique of plastination conserves dead bodies by replacing water and fat with plastic. The technique preserves detailed anatomy, so the bodies can be dissected and put on display. Here, the dissection has revealed muscles, bones and arteries (red). Internal organs have been exposed in the body cavity, including the heart, diaphragm and abdominal organs. The head has been dissected to reveal the brain. Photographed at the 'Our Body' exhibition, in Lyon, France.
