Experiment to measure the velocity of sound in water. These measurements were made in 1841 on Lake Geneva by Jean Daniel Colladon (1802-1893) and Charles Sturm (1803-1855). Striking a bell under water with simultaneous flash of light. Engraving from ''Les Nouvelles Conquetes de la Science'' by Louis Figuier, Paris, c1880.
