Description

Healing skin wound, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). A blood vessel is leaking at left. At right, red blood cells (or erythrocytes, red) are becoming trapped in a mesh of the protein fibrin, which forms a clot. Fibrin is produced when blood is exposed to the air, and the clots it forms help to prevent blood loss. Magnification x650 when printed 10cm wide.
