Deforestation. Hillside deforested for cattle pasture. In the background, cloud forest still covers the hills. Palm trees have been left standing in the deforested area because their hard wood damages chainsaws. Deforestation may lead to soil erosion. Photographed in the Ecuadorian Andes.
