Description
DNA strand. Computer artwork showing the double helix structure of a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) molecule. Each strand consists of a sugar-phosphate backbone attached to nucleotide bases. DNA contains sections called genes that encode the body's genetic information. The multicolour piece of DNA is depicting CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, replacing an existing part of an DNA with a new one. The CRISPR-Cas9 protein is used in genome engineering to cut and replace certain sections of DNA.
