Illustration showing the blood supply to the different areas of a meniscus in a front view. The outer edges of the menisci are well supplied with blood. This region is also called the red-red zone. The parts lying inwards are hardly supplied with blood. This region is called the white-white zone. The transitional area between the above-mentioned zones is called the red-white zone.
