Description
Young stars in the Eagle Nebula. Infrared image of hot young stars (red) in the Eagle or M16 Nebula. The stars are located at the edges of the three Pillars of Creation (dark regions), areas of gas and dust. Infrared imaging reveals the stars, usually hidden within dense Evaporating Gaseous Globules (EGGs) at the edges of the pillars. Image taken by the ISAAC instrument on the VLT at Paranal Observatory, Chile.
