Artist's Description
Photovoltaic cell manufacturing. Photovoltaic cell held by a worker's hand in a late stage of the manufacturing process for photovoltaic cells. This photovoltaic cell was made from a polycrystalline silicon wafer, has had electrodes added, and is now ready to be assembled as part of a module for use in a solar panel. Photovoltaic cells are the basic components of solar panels. They contain silicon, a semiconductor material that can absorb energy from sunlight and convert it into an electrical current.
