Cave paintings of bison. The paintings are around 13,000 years old. They are part of the Niaux cave paintings in the French Pyrenees. These paintings are in the Niaux cave's Salon Noir. The paintings also include ibexes (type of mountain goat, not seen). The paintings were done by Cro-Magnon man, an early European culture of modern humans (Homo sapiens sapiens), using black charcoal and manganese. The paintings may have had religious and artistic significance.
