New York City, as seen from the International Space Station (ISS). North is at right. This view was taken at dawn, with skyscraper shadows at centre and upper left with the Sun rising in the east (bottom). The central part of the city is on the island of Manhattan (across centre). Central Park (centre right) is the green rectangle. Midtown is at centre. The financial district is on the tip of Manhattan at upper left. Across the Hudson River at top is Jersey City, New Jersey. Across the East River at lower left is the New York City borough of Queens on Long Island. At lower centre is Rikers Island. Photographed by an Expedition 7 crew member on 7 September 2003.
