Description
Limescale. Section of copper pipe damaged and split by the build-up of limescale (off-white) inside it, compared with an undamaged pipe. Limescale is a hard, chalky deposit of calcium carbonate. It is formed when 'hard' water (water rich in calcium carbonate and bicarbonate) is heated. Limescale can form a physical blockage and can coat heating elements and heat exchangers reducing their efficiency.
