Jaw tumour. Light micrograph of a section through tissue from a jaw showing a benign (non-cancerous) bony lesion (white). This is an ameloblastoma, which forms from the cells that produce teeth enamel. The lesions can cause painful swellings and facial deformity. It is more common in the lower than upper jaw. Treatment is with surgical removal of the tumour. Magnification: x250 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
