Description
The Hoba meteorite is the largest known meteorite on Earth. It weighs 60 tons and has a volume of 9 cubic metres. The Hoba meteorite is made up of 82% iron, 16% nickel, 1% cobalt as well as other trace elements. It is a remnant of a planetary core and is thought to have hit the site of what is now Hoba West farm, Grootfontein, Namibia, 80,000 years ago.
