Artist's Description

EPOC device, IBM research. IBM scientist Kevin Brown wearing the EPOC device from Emotiv Systems, studying how to use it to control a remote-controlled toy car. Brown works at IBM Software Group on Emerging Technologies. The device has several sensors that read electrical brain impulses. Advanced sensors can recognize facial expressions, excitement and concentration levels. The technology is expected to have applications in medicine, brain research, and video gaming. Photographed in May 2010.
