Description
Eclipse cartoon from Punch magazine, 15th June 1927. A British vicar (left) realises that his garden fete is on the same day as the solar eclipse on 29th June 1927 and wonders if he should put it off. The gardener responds by informing the vicar that it is not possible to postpone a total solar eclipse. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes across the Sun as seen from Earth. Total solar eclipses usually occur less than once a year and can only be seen from a small area of the Earth's surface.
