Description
Curiosity rover during mobility testing. This is the rover for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. It weighs over 900 kilograms and has a robotic arm to collect samples and cameras on a 2.1 metre tall mast. The MSL is due for launch at the end of November 2011 and to land on Mars in August 2012 on a mission to determine if Mars is, or was ever, able to support microbial life. Photographed at Spacecraft Assembly Facility at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California.
