Here the Moon is described as gibbous as more than half of its disk is illuminated. Craters visible on the Moon are the result of meteorite impacts, while the dark areas or 'seas' are the remains of ancient plains of lava. Weather patterns over the Earth and its blue oceans are seen, as is the day-night boundary.
