Description
Cat whiskers. Close-up of a cat's whiskers, also known as vibrissae, nose and paw. Vibrissae are long, stiff hairs that are very sensitive to tactile sensations and help cats to sense their surroundings in the dark. The root of each hair is richly supplied with nerve endings making the cat aware of changes to air currents, temperature and air pressure.
