Artist's Description
Nuclear explosion. Aerial view of the nuclear explosion, code-named Seminole, at Enewetak Atoll in the Pacific Ocean on 6 June 1956. This atomic bomb was detonated at ground level and had the same explosive force of 13.7 thousand tonnes (kilotonnes) of TNT. It was detonated as part of Operation Redwing, an American programme which tested systems for atomic bombs.
