Description
Assorted garden bulbs. Red and white onions (upper right), garlic (lower right) and daffodil bulbs (lower centre) with other flower bulbs. Bulbs are the underground food storage structures of some plants. Onion and daffodil plants have true bulbs, tightly bound leaf scales that develop roots and a shoot. Corms (black, in bowl) are the swollen base of a stem. Tuberous structures are seen below and left of the corms.
