Description
Two craniotomy forceps, a perforator, and a blunt hook for obstetrics. Such instruments were used as a last resort during difficult births (when the mother's life is at risk) to destroy and extract the baby (usually already dead by this stage). The craniotomy forceps would grip the head of the baby and break the skull to facilitate delivery. These instruments date from around 1880, England.
